Asphalt milling is the process of cold planning the existing asphalt surface. Our milling machine is versatile enough to do pavement repairs on light-duty parking lots, long trenches for utility installations (eliminating the need for a saw cut), and full-width milling of arterial streets. We can load the millings via a conveyor or leave them in place. Our full-service milling operation includes:
Infrared patching is an alternative, less permanent solution for patching asphalt by repairing the surface of the existing asphalt. It can be used to repair slight defects or depressions in the asphalt paving surface and damage or sinking around catch basins. Unlike removal and replacement, infrared repairs the surface of the existing asphalt combined with new, fresh asphalt.
Infrared patching is not recommended for all asphalt paving. In some cases, the asphalt has failed due to base failure or erosion, inadequate depth of asphalt, or poor-quality materials. In these instances, removal is recommended.
Crack sealing is often used as the first line of defense against pavement deterioration because it protects the base and sub-base from erosion, which results in further cracking, potholes, and, eventually, total pavement failure. Goltz Asphalt Company uses quality “hot pour” sealing rubber. The crack sealing material is applied to the cracked surface after the region has been air-pressure cleaned to remove silt, dirt, and other debris.
